What’s been bugging Rebecca Whicker for a long time are blouses that gap between
buttons. On a flight to Las Vegas, she told her husband: “Someone needs to fix
this problem. Pins just don’t work, and they look ugly.” He shot back: “Why
don’t’ you? You’re mechanically inclined.”
Whicker, a marketing consultant who had just finished a project at Oglethorpe
University, said, “The idea for Bug Catcherz popped into my head like a gift.”
She created No See ‘ems, simple adhesive closures [with a reinforced plastic
strip] that would keep a blouse from gaping open, secured a provisional patent
and connected with a local nonprofit manufacturer – the Tommy Nobis Center,
which provides job training and employment for the disabled – and a graphic
designer friend.
“My vision for Bug Catcherz is . . . to create a company that provides solutions
to the product problems that bug women,” she said.
Bug Catcherz will debut No See ‘ems, and BUTTerflies, to hold panties in place
by preventing wedgies, at the AmericasMart apparel mart show in late January
and boutiques after that. www.bugcatcherz.com
